Growing up on a goat farm in rural Wisconsin, I learned the value of true functional strength. It gave us life. I started wrestling at 4 years old and continued on into high school. My senior year, I started training in kickboxing and boxing and competed throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada. This led me into mixed marital arts (MMA) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) training. My love for physical fitness made me want to learn more. I went to the University of Maryland and got my degree in Kinesiology, where I learned more about how the human body moves and develops. This made me want to apply that knowledge to help others. I became a certified personal trainer and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and started my personal training career. I met people whose physical abilities hindered their quality of life, people who were constantly in pain or injured merely because they lacked physical strength, and people who had health issues that could not be resolved through medication or surgery. Their bodies had become their prison.  I realized that fitness should be functional and that helping people overcome their weaknesses and breaking out of their own bondage gave me the greatest joy. My goal is to help everyone reach their physical fitness potential. Fitness is freedom. Fight for it.

I observed Crossfit with a criticizing yet fascinated gaze for years until doing my first WOD (Workout of the Day) in 2013.  This was a very humbling and exciting experience.  Every Crossfitter remembers their first WOD and the exhilarating feeling they got from putting their mind and body into completing something challenging.  Since then, I have committed myself to fitness with a newfound appreciation, respect, and desire for CrossFit.  My fitness background includes years of experience with scholastic wrestling, weightlifting, and countless youth sports.  I was a conference champion and two time state tournament qualifier in high school wrestling.  In college, I found myself lifting weights and following bodybuilding regimens.  This became a very monotonous and unfulfilling life.  After a string of health problems prevented me from working out for over a year, I found myself searching for a way to get back in shape that was new, challenging, and exciting.  Until CrossFit, nothing has pushed me physically and mentally as much as wrestling.  CrossFit was not only the most exhausting workout, but also the most fulfilling.  It instilled that competitive spirit I missed from wrestling. In 2014 I received my Level 1 CF certification to share my love of CrossFit as a coach and to communicate the values, movements, and mission of CrossFit.  Let’s conquer our fitness goals and accomplish something great together.
