Success Story:  Erick Jeffries

In high school I played sports: Football, Wrestling, Track, Skiing so I never worried about staying in shape it just came along with the sports. After high school I didn't really do anything athletic, but I kept eating like I was playing sports and I gained a lot of weight. My wife saw the Groupon for Silver Star and suggested we go try it out, and so the journey began. I don't know how much I weighed when we started (I wasn't willing to get on a scale to find out). What I do know was I was wearing size 44 pants, a year later I'm down 6 inches/sizes and wear size 38 pants, I fit into clothes that I haven't worn in years! I even stepped on a scale, I now weigh less than 210 pounds, I'm still scared to find out what I use to weigh.

When I started CrossFit I couldn't do a pull up, the form on my weight lifting was poor because of my lack of flexibility, I couldn't touch my toes and I couldn't sit cross-legged even worse was I could barely get through the warm up! It's true what they say CrossFit warm ups are harder than some people's whole workouts. Now I squat 305 pounds, clean 245 pounds, bench 205 pounds, dead-lift 415 pounds. Not to mention I can touch my toes, sit cross-legged, and walk up the stairs without getting out of breath.

The process I followed to get me to where I am is really fairly simple. I go to Silver Star 3 times a week and I follow the programming, I give it 100% every time I go and I listen to Josh. Josh, is a coach and one of the owners. Josh sets up quality programming and tailors it to my needs based on my skill level in different areas, he does this for everyone at the gym! Josh and the other coaches ensure that we are using proper technique to keep us safe and engaged. Showing up is the easy part though, giving 100% each and every time you walk in the door is the hard part. Silver Star has built a community of people that regularly show up for the workout classes and you'll get to know the people you're sweating and hurting with in no time. The community is a lot of why I continue to choose Silver Star, everyone shares the pain and struggle together regardless of your skill level and they're there to push you and encourage you when you struggle in a workout.

Silver Star has helped me get back into shape and become stronger than I have ever been and I can't thank them enough for being so encouraging and inspiring all along the way.
